$Hourly to Salary Calculator

How the conversion works

Biweekly and weekly amounts are based on the full year divided evenly, which is how most U.S. payroll systems spread a salary across pay periods.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert hourly pay to a yearly salary quickly?

Multiply the hourly rate by 2,080 (40 hours × 52 weeks). A quick mental shortcut is to double the hourly rate and add three zeros: $25 an hour is about $50,000 a year (exactly $52,000).

Why 2,080 hours?

A full-time schedule of 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is 2,080 hours. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management uses 2,087 hours as the average for federal pay because some years have extra workdays; the difference is under 0.4%.

Does this include taxes?

No. These are gross (before-tax) figures. Federal and state income tax, Social Security and Medicare are taken out of your paycheck afterwards.

What if I take unpaid time off?

Lower the paid weeks per year. For example, two unpaid weeks means 50 paid weeks.
