DayClock inClock outBreak minHours

How hours are added up

Enter only unpaid break minutes. For each day: (clock-out − clock-in) − unpaid break. If clock-out is earlier than clock-in, 24 hours are added (overnight shift). The weekly total is shown as hours and minutes and as decimal hours, which is what most payroll systems use.

If you enter an hourly rate, hours over the overtime threshold (40 per week under the federal FLSA) are paid at 1.5× in the pay estimate.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert minutes to decimal hours for payroll?

Divide minutes by 60. 15 minutes = 0.25 h, 30 minutes = 0.5 h, 45 minutes = 0.75 h. So 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours.

What about a shift that goes past midnight?

Enter the times as they are, e.g. 10:00 PM in and 6:00 AM out. If the clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in time, the calculator treats it as the next day.

Are breaks paid?

Under federal rules, short breaks of about 5–20 minutes are usually paid work time, while bona fide meal periods of 30 minutes or more, when you are fully relieved of duty, are usually unpaid. Enter only unpaid break minutes.
